Archos store now has launched a new Android tablet which features 4.8 inch display and 500GB of hard drive. It is priced at $299 rather competitively if we consider its high quality multimedia capabilities.
It is actually a very similar version of Archos 5 tablet with a few features cut. For example, Archos 48 has no GPS. It is one of the reasons that Archos 48 has a low price. On the other hand, many people continue to ignore the GPS functions on media tablets because it is a real battery killer and continue to use their smartphones for navigation.

Other Archos 48 specs include ARM Cortex A8 800MHz processor, 256MB Ram, 4.8 inch resistive touchscreen 800×480 res. display. It runs on Google Android Donut 1.6 OS. It does not feature Android Market but I think it would be easy to get one soon if we consider that Archos 5 has this function due to independent developer efforts. In any case, there are over 24,000 apps on their own installed store.
Archos 48 can easily be considered as a multimedia tablet with Internet browsing functionality. It can play many video codecs at 720p and has wi-fi 802.11b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.0.
