97 carbon is the flagship model in the line up. As the name suggests, it has a 9.7 inch screen. It is a lightweight and thin tablet which features aluminum finish. The top layer is made from smooth silicone to provide the touch sensitivity as if you are using the Archos 101 tablet without a skin. The installation is also very easy with the included applicator card and the result will be without any bubbles. You will also notice that viewing angles are improved as well as the tablet will have better usage under sunlight thanks to anti-glare feature of the screen protector for Archos 101. For now, only available Archos 80 G9 8  inch model with processor set at 1GHz, while the same model, like the 10 inch with 1.5 GHz processor, would be delayed with no time declared because of waiting the latest improvements on the processors from Texas Instruments who is the supplier to provide the OMAP 4 dual-cores for leading Archos G9 tablets.

The solution offered by the company is in late October that will offer similar models but with a processor at 1.2 GHz frequency turbo. The change is clearly at home and according to Archos, the performance is not affected by the change of hardware. This does not mean that they are cancelling the idea to integrate a 1.5 GHz processor but the upgrade will wait until early 2012.

Now it is clear that Archos does not look bad with their customers, but so close hardware upgrades might confuse the consumer, because many would rather wait for a more powerful model for only a minimal difference. In my opinion, a 1GHz processor dual core should be sufficient to deliver the performance necessary for an Android-based tablet needs.

As for the price not mentioned anything, so we must assume that the model 8 “(Archos 80 G9) would maintain its price from $ 329 (SSD) and $ 369 (HHD), while 10″ (Archos 101 G9) should take possible costing of $ 399 (SSD 16) and $ 469 (HHD).

The GPS functionality was one of the main reasons I picked up my Archos 5 and couldn’t wait to try it out. The mount is very secure and I was never worried about it falling of the windshield. It also made me a safer driver as I didn’t have to look down on my lap to check the directions. As a car stereo the Car Mount for Archos is great. No longer did I have to fumble around in traffic looking for a song or adjusting the volume. The FM transmitter has good signal strength and I was rocking all the way to the great northwest.

That was until my Archos 5 was stolen. One of the really bad things about this windshield mount is that it sits on the windshield in plain site of anyone who walks by. Now, I know I should have stored it in my glove box before getting out for a Grand Slam breakfast at Denny’s but I was in a rush and just forgot. This really isn’t the fault of the Archos Car Mount but it is something to consider.

Would I purchase this again? Well that depends on if I get the money together to buy another Archos 5 tablet.
